[edit] Recommended Textbook
"Applied Mathematics and Modeling for Chemical Engineers", by R.G. Rice and D.D. Do. John Wiley, 1994.
[edit] Course content
The course is for CET IIA. This unit will teach a set of techniques to solve ODEs and PDEs.
[edit] Aims
Classify ODEs. Identify suitable solution techniques. Solve linear and some types of nonlinear ODEs.
Introduce PDEs and their classification. Identify suitable solution techniques. Solve common types of PDEs occurring in all branches of chemical engineering.
[edit] Assumed knowledge
- Linear and first order ODEs. (ET / NST IA Mathematics)
- Laplace Transforms. (CET 1 Mathematical Techniques)
- Mathematica. (CET I Computing classes)
